Lawyers' Christmas Concert
The Sydney Lawyer’s Orchestra (SLO) held its second annual “Christmas Proms” concert on Wednesday 16 December 2015 at the historic Uniting Church, Pitt St Sydney.
Led by conductor and Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner Thomas Jones, the orchestra performed works by, Meyerbeer, Handel, Elgar and Johann Strauss to an enthusiastic audience of about 250 people. The NSW Bar Choir and its convenor, Justice Peter Hidden, joined the Orchestra for an energetic performance of the ‘Hallelujah’ chorus from Handel’s Christmas oratorio ‘The Messiah’.
The event, attended by family, friends and colleagues of Sydney’s legal and musical communities, raised funds for The Katrina Dawson Foundation to support finding, funding and mentoring inspiring young women.
Thomas Jones congratulated the almost 30 members of the orchestra. “This was a very special performance for the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra. We were delighted to see such a wonderful turnout and support.” Members of the audience described the concert as “moving and uplifting” and “wonderful music, beautifully played”.
Supported by law firm Corrs, the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra brings together talented musicians with a passion for classical music from across the Sydney legal profession. The Katrina Dawson Foundation would like to thank Corrs Chambers Westgarth and the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra for their wonderful support.
